Commission on Appraisal
In 2009, the Board of Trustees of the UUA appointed me to a six-year term as member of the Commission on Appraisal. In my capacity here, I served as vice-chair, and worked on the national study of the relationship between ministry, authority, and congregations. This work resulted in the final report, Who’s in Charge Here?, which I co-authored. In 2013, we began to determine the next topic of study, and centered on class and classism in Unitarian Universalism. This would eventually lead to the Commission’s 2017 report, Class Action: The Struggle With Class in Unitarian Universalism.
Good Offices
Since 2016, I’ve served the Mountain Desert Chapter of the UUMA as Good Officer, a minister to the minister. In this role, I’m available to other ministers of the chapter as a sounding board and advisor.
Contract/Call Team
In 2022, I joined a new specialized team of Good Officers trained to handle new ministry contracts and negotiated resignations at the national level.
Partner Church
The Unitarian Church of Los Alamos has maintained an active partner relationship with the Hungarian Unitarian congregation in Fenyokut, Transylvania, Romania. In 2019, I was privileged to travel as a member of a pilgrimage group to Transylvania, staying in the town of Korund. There, we helped celebrate the 450th anniversary of Fenyokut’s sister congregation. I was honored to deliver the sermon at that Sunday service.
