Pastoral Prayer, 11/13/23

Eternal, Beloved

Gracious Source of All Life and All Love

We gather this morning with gratitude for this time out of time which we have set apart so that we might become more fully present to ourselves, to each other, to our communities, and to that which name as Holy.

May our joys be celebrated together, our wounds be healed together, and our hearts be opened together.

Let us look into the eyes of our friends and neighbors and see ourselves in them. May we find that our souls are inextricably linked, and that our lives are made to matter, are given meaning by our bonds.

In a season of dwindling light, let us tend to the fire in one another’s souls, so that this gathering of free minds and hearts might become the beacon to the world it wishes to be. May we find courage to open up space in this circle for all those who see that beacon and feel called to join their own light to it.

Let the embrace of this community be for us strength and support. May its love and intention be written on our hearts so that we may carry it with us wherever we go.

May we never doubt our own worthiness, or the worthiness of others of a place in humanity and in this circle of care.

All this we pray in the names of those
Known and Unknown
Present and Absent
Remembered and Forgotten
In the Names of All the Helpers of Humankind
Amen
